Public Corporate Statement on Social Value

Healthcare Innovation Consortium is committed to the achievement of outstanding social value performance in everything we do. Our social value model is underpinned by four pillars: Community, Sustainability, Wellbeing and Diversity and Inclusion. This commitment sits at the core of our business activities and decision making to ensure correct organisational governance and to promote a common understanding of social responsibility that is needed to safeguard the future for a more sustainable world.

Applying focus to the welfare of the environment and society and using the appropriate metrics to measure Healthcare Innovation Consortium’s overall performance allows for a more effective operational ability to integrate, implement and promote socially responsible behaviour. We demonstrate this throughout our practices, through engaging stakeholders, and through identifying the trends and opportunities of social responsibility.

Healthcare Innovation Consortium’s Social Value Model:

  1. Community: proactively create employment, re-train and other return to work opportunities for those left unemployed, particularly as a result of COVID-19, improving economic recovery and building a community of skilled resources.
  2. Sustainability: create specific policies and approaches to tackling inequalities to ensure sustainability can be weaved into everything we do.
  3. Wellbeing: support staff physical and mental health, offering all the right advice and support when they need it – leaving nobody behind.
  4. Diversity and Inclusion: supporting communities (regional and national) to create a

diverse supply chain and embrace people with the right skills/attitudes. Embedment of inclusive and accessible recruitment practices, always aiming to find the best talent and retain and grow these individuals.

Embedding Social Value

Healthcare Innovation Consortium plan to implement ISO 26000:2010 in the way we conduct ourselves both internally and with our clients. We also adhere to the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2021, to support the achievement of meaningful outcomes for staff, suppliers, customers and communities.

Communication

Healthcare Innovation Consortium prides itself on having strong working relationships with a range of organisations, and upon implementation of ISO 26000:2010, we will support a wider adoption of social value to ensure greater alignment on best practices with our partners. To do this, it is important that these organisations understand the challenges relating to social responsibility, and how they play an important role in addressing these. Engaging with stakeholders within our sphere of influence is also a key driver for Healthcare Innovation Consortium on which we encompass within our daily business activities and decisions to promote social responsibility.

Social Value Success Metrics

Social value is tracked on two levels: a contract level, and an organisation level. This allows for both internal and external monitoring and reporting. Social value is highlighted as a Key Performance Indicator for each contract and internal strategy. Where requested, regular audits are conducted to ensure our social value commitments are being achieved and are reported on and monitored regularly throughout the duration of our contracts.

We all have a responsibility to embed social value principles into our work and Healthcare Innovation Consortium is fully committed to embracing this in everything we do.
